#OTD 1575: Elizabeth de Vere was born in Hertfordshire. Considered an adept businesswoman she became Countess of Derby through her marriage prior to taking up the administrative duties of the Isle of Mann (Manx #Gaelic: Çhiarn Vannin) in 1609. In 1612 she became the Lord of Mann.
