(1/2)In the 1790s, the British Army exiled about 5000 Black Caribs (the Garifuna) to Balliceaux following the defeat of Paramount Chief Joseph Chatoyer. Half of them died on the island and the others were deported to Roatan Island off the coast of Honduras.
