Two of my favorite girls got titles that made the bold editorial decision that returning other characters to a previous status quo was a better use of their time than doing anything meaningful to forward their own canon. 😒😮‍💨

At the risk of drawing the wrong kind of attention, Jay Nakamura was intentionally made out to be a shady character for the entire first arc of SoKE including and especially in the kiss, but was slowly shown to be genuine if somewhat awkward. His morally grey friends didn't help.
