Concept art of Ratigan, from THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE (1986). Ratigan seldom seems to make Great Disney Villains lists. I found him intimidating. The finale—man: Ratigan’s mask finally drops off, all that pretended civility goes, and he turns into this monstrous beast.
Melody. The “ditzy blonde”. In her case though, I always felt that there was more to her—a kind of cosmic synchronicity. Her dumbness was an antidote against the scheming evils of the world. Like the light-hearted giggle of an enlightened guru. The Universe provided for Melody.
Concept art from STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK (1984). The first one I ever saw. I remember referring to Spock as “Dr. Spock” right in front of my brother, an old school nerd (aviator glasses, big digital watch). I never made that mistake again.
Model of the ship Kraken II from INNERSPACE (1987), a shot from the film, and two poster details showing the craft.
