About the sixth batch of admissions tonight. This time days old hoglets. Mum not seen for over 24 hours, her five hoglets; cold, hungry and stressed. During weighing one rolled onto its back and the others tried suckling from it. Once warmed up they will have their first feeds.
If you are working in the garden please think hedgehog and check before you work. A few minutes spent saves a hedgehog from injury or worse.
Interviewers often ask 'but why should we care, what do hedgehogs add to our gardens'. Existence, caring shouldn't need justification.
This mothers day I'll say thank you to Jayne, our hoglet nannies & all other rescues that have to be surrogate mums.
Habitat fragmentation & solid fences denying access to gardens is a big issue for hedgehogs. #Access4Hedgehogs
If you're having a garden tidy up this weekend please check first & leave some wild areas for hedgehogs.
Continuing our garden dangers month please keep chemicals & tools off the floor @PTES @hedgehogsociety @hedgehoghugh
