A sneak to my process.
I've managed to drag a 2D image and place/display it as a reference point, setting up the base pose from the profile view (in orthographic projection) before refining the rest afterwards.
To prove my point: That's a promotional render from New Super Mario Bros. U
This would not only serves to establish classic Sonic characters and lore like Amy, Rouge and the Chaotix, but also expand on the weirder ideas specific to this film canon.
Like who are those scavengers? and who is Alva and that race of lizard warriors exactly?
Further tweaked my Crash GBC sprite to accommodate for the fact that the Game Boy Color can only handle three colors/nuances plus transparency per sprite tile (8x8 or 8x16).
