Before Vandham became a mercenary, he was a scion of the noble Paronet family. The name "Vandham" was a nickname inspired by someone he looked up to as a child, his birth name being Aquila Paronet Sol Esteriole. He also had a son who died of causes that are never specified!

In Xenoblade Chronicles Riki originally had much less HP, which is common quality in thief characters in RPGs. During the development of the game, he was given the highest HP in the party as a joke. The dev. team enjoyed this so much that it was kept in the final game!
