Having had troubled pasts, I always thought the different emotional strengths of Tikal and Shadow could have helped them overcome the pain in a healthy and interesting way, continuously learning from each other.
I think what one lacks the other makes up for it.

I've always liked Tikal and Shadow as a couple because I think one could've complemented the other; their stories sort of follow the same pattern, they both suffered greatly but had different responses and development and I see them as opposites but not quite.
