Remove beards. Still Open? - Discard.
In a large pot set over medium heat, combine wine, shallots, garlic, and salt.
Simmer 5 minutes.
Add mussels, cover, and increase heat to high.
Cook until all mussels are open, about 5 minutes. Not Open? - Discard
Serve with bread & butter.
Looked out the window, the fishing boats were hidden in the falling snow. Sleet came, and the logs went onto the fire - it was a good day in the studio for drinking tea with friends and pootling.

I've spent at lot of time at Ardentinny this spring & I love its Little Red Fishing boat. Here its getting prepped for some arty adventures.
Time in the studio is marvellous; but the sun calls with sweet temptations of the beach, the sea and the garden. What a wonderful quandary.
