Chocobonyan is just Jibanyan riding a Chocobo from Final Fantasy, while Mooglenyan is a reference to the Moogle, the second mascot of the Final Fantasy series.

Thurston is based on the legendary oni king Shuten-dōji, which is a nickname meaning "little drunkard". He is noteworthy in being one of Japan's three most evil youkai along with Emperor Sutoku, and the nine-tailed kitsune Tamamo-no-Mae.

Jibanyan Liu Bei is based on Liu Bei, an important historical figure in China's Three Kingdoms Period and one of the grand generals.

Kittylumus' japanese name, "Necolumbus" is a portmanteau of neko, the Japanese word for "cat", nekorobu to lie down, and 'Christopher Columbus' (koronbusu), who is generically regarded as the discoverer of America, though untrue.

Why Naant's appearance is heavily based off TV Tokyo's mascot Nanana, who was created in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the network.

Slimamander is based on the nozuchi, a snake-like youkai with a thick, hairy body resembling a mallet in shape. It feeds on small wildlife and travels down the mountains it inhabits by biting on its tail and tumbling down slopes.
