In the words of one historian, "the House of Commons in embryo"
Montfort died at Battle of Evesham.

1588 John Winthrop's birth in Edwardstone, Suffolk England (d. 26/03/1649).
English Puritan lawyer & first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Leading the first large wave of those from England in 1630.
He served as governor for 12 of colony's first 20 years.
