After color is done there’s still some editing left to do. For example neon signs are too bright and need to be toned down to create an illusion of depth and space. I add some color correction, multiply layers for additional shadows, a bit of blur and of course some noise on top

Now I start adding color. I keep the desired color scheme in my head at this point and simply try to stick to my tonal sketch. Might be useful for some people to make a color sketch as well but I have a very intuitive color picking process (called “it just looks good”)

Reworking things from the archives. For me it’s interesting to go back in time several years and stay in the headspace of my past self for a while

From the start I planned Dream Journal as a collection that would feature repeating visual themes: vintage gadgets, retro software, starry sky, cityscapes. It’s interesting to look at these repeating patterns and see what changed and what stayed the same

I call this an impressionistic story because I’m not going deep into describing characters or circumstances of their lives. We go past mundane details straight into the territory of self-reflection, memory and daydreaming.
