The world building is insanely rich, the supporting characters phenomenal. I actually read all 27 volumes in a SINGLE SITTING (No lie) years ago, and I have several friends who did the same after I suggested this to them.

The premise is actually identical as the main couple are on opposing sides of a war, & fall in love without knowing each other's identities.

Emotional stakes and angst level are very high here, though, as one of them is actually directly responsible for the other's tragic past.

Last time I recced Full Metal Panic to my fellow TwiYor lovers, and today I want to follow that up w/ one for BASARA, my favorite all-time shoujo EPIC (27 volumes!).

(Note: NOT Sengoku Basara, but BASARA by Tamura Yumi, one of the most respected mangaka in all of Japan)
