Ayato: Samurott and Dewgong
Samurott is an intimidating Water-type with swords built into its armour, fitting a master swordsman and clan head.
Dewgong is also elegant like Ayato, but has a sleepy demeanour that pairs well with some of Ayato’s personality eccentricities
Yae: Ninetales and Jolteon
Since Miko and Ninetales are both based off of kitsune, they were a perfect match for each other.
Jolteon is said to have a mood that changes quickly and also has a vulpine appearance- a Pokémon that Miko would probably adore.
Itto: Heracross and Tauros
While none of them share Itto’s element, they represent both his love for beetle fighting and his companion Ushi.
In particular, Heracross’s incredible strength and Tauros’s quick-to-anger nature also match his personality and build.
Gorou: Rockruff and Stoutland
As a puppy Pokémon with the Rock typing, Rockruff is perfect for Gorou.
Stoutland is described as “intelligent, good-natured and valiant” in its Pokédex entries, and its loyalty to its trainer reflects Gorou’s loyalty to the resistance
Thoma: Arcanine and Aegislash.
After those scenes in Thoma’s demo, I had to give him an Arcanine- it’s a dog-like Pokémon whose type matches his Vision.
Aegislash is said to have attended to kings for generations similar to Thoma and House Kamisato
Kokomi: Jellicent and Kingdra
Kokomi’s healing primarily comes from the hydro jellyfish she creates, which is why I picked Jellicent.
Kingdra is another water-type, and its secondary Dragon-typing and tendency to hide in caves matches her constellation- the “Sleeping Dragon”
Ei: Luxray and Eternatus
When Luxray’s eyes glow, it can see through walls, making it a great hunter and fighter like Ei.
I contemplated giving Ei an Electric-type Legendary since she’s the Electro Archon, but Eternatus’s ability to produce unlimited energy fits her ideals more
Sara: Corviknight and Zebstrika
Corviknight is based off of a crow, similar to the tengu, and its intelligence and strength fits a general like Sara.
Zebstrika is quite proud and creates the sound of thunder when it runs- similar to Sara and Ei’s thunder and lightning analogy
Yoimiya: Pansear and Torkoal
Pansear is a playful, intelligent Pokémon that likes to help people- similar to Yoimiya
The charcoal and coal that Torkoal stores in its body is also an ingredient used in fireworks, so it could help her out that way.
Both are also Fire types
Sayu: Zigzagoon and Snorlax
Zigzagoon is based off a raccoon, similar to the tanuki and mujina that Sayu’s constellation and design take inspiration from. Its evolution, Linoone, is also known for its speed.
I gave Sayu a Snorlax because they’re both sleepy lol.
