Compare this to the classic Disney solution of having the little character sit on the big one to get them closer together. Not to say one approach is better, but it's emblematic of how anime has more emphasis on framing & western animation focuses more on character action.
Crayon Shin-Chan developed a unique filmmaking style to solve the issue of framing adults with tiny children in the same shot: lots of extreme high and low angles, and pushing characters way into the foreground or distance.
random Sublo and Tangy Mustard fact:
Subpar CEO Jimothy Par in the "Convention" episode is modeled after the bad guy MacDonald in Jackie Chan's City Hunter
also there's just a lot of unique, extra-stylized design work in this episode, I don't think that can be solely attributed to Yuasa but it's definitely a standout
If I'd pitched Sublo and somehow got it made through the industry, there would be a LOT more of it in existence but it would also likely be 1) a very different show, 2) already cancelled + dead forever now, 3) full of stress and frustration, as any production is. Pic unrelated.
last request from Sunday's stream was a Shrek dance (had 20 minutes to animate it)
1st request from last night's animation dance battle stream with @LordSpew - Stimpy! We had 20 minutes to animate each of these, but it was hard to focus cause we were talking the whole time too. I cheated and redrew the arms after the stream.
this is still the best Flash symbol replacement glitch I've ever experienced, the fact that it kept his face but replaced the head is beautiful
