Lunchtime scans - unedited on left, attempted paper texture reduction on right.
I learned One Weird Trick to remove the paper texture - scan the image a second time rotated by 180°, and then align the scans. This causes the shadows from the scanning to cancel each other out!
#avianaugust 23 - yellow-breasted fruit dove
When I looked at this bird, I thought - “it looks like a white dove got caught in the crossfire of a paint-balling match!”
#avianaugust 18th - Violet-green swallow
Another bird with beautiful colouration! Feet continue to be a weakness for me but I’m happy with the level of abstraction vs detail in the feathers
#avianaugust 17th: white-browed tit warbler
When I saw the photo of this bird I immediately thought, “it’s a fuzzy, winged nebula!”

IT IS DONE. Black Eagles? More like rainbow eagles!
It didn't turn out the way I initially envisioned it but after a year of brainworms over this painting I'm glad to get it out of my system.
