And what ever happened to that software rendering, you might ask?

It's still alive and well, but it isn't used to much effect anymore. Unless you're a masochist like @qbismcom who's been pushing the limits of CPU rendering for decades now in an epic "Yo Mama" style of flexing.

for the longest time I was utterly convinced that there was a full length anime of Zelda 1 and 2 that nintendo took stills of to put in their game manuals, and it was squirreled away in japan, never to come to america.

One of the things they don't tell you about making a 2d on rails shooter is that you have to draw the player at various angles to maintain the illusion of depth and perspective.

This isn't a real jet, there were no reference models to go by for this. #requiem #IndieGameDev
