The sketchbook reflects both the thrilling pageantry of the mass celebrations staged for the tenth anniversary of the Russian Revolution and more quotidian details of Soviet life.
While doing another art import from MoMA's Drawings and Prints collection and discovered a bunch of sketches Diego Rivera did during his trip to the USSR in 1927-28. This is so cool, I had no idea.

"The creative process is a little like the act of making love. It can be as violent as fucking, like an orgasm or an ejaculation. The result is often disappointing, but the process is highly exciting."
Francis Bacon, Two Figures, 1953

New #artbot alert! Jusepe de Ribera (@ArtistDeRibera) was a Spanish Tenebrist painter and printmaker. Ribera was a leading painter of the Spanish school, although his mature work was all done in Italy. #followart #artontwitter
When I first saw @SalvatorRosaArt "Glaucus and Scylla" I had a major WTF reaction. It turns out the artwork depicts a scene from a mythological love story full of rejection, jealously, and unresolved identity issues. Look it up! Those two should have seen a therapist 💔
Vincent wrote, "You know what a peasant is, how strongly he reminds of a wild beast, when you have found one of the true race". This is uncomfortable to write about but it shows that we are the products of our time and that ideas evolve. Still, this is some serious bullshit.
Today was one of those days... I went on a walk, cleaned the house, read, and made a new #artbot. Please say hi to the American Orientalist artist Edwin Lord Weeks (@EdwinLordWeeks). #followart #artontwitter
