People always bring up the coloring but the far greater controversy should be the exclamation point on the cover. https://t.co/GjdCHlt0KE

Obviously I have a thing for vintage DC.
I later inherited the LUCIFER series developed by editor Arianna Turturro, but that book (led by Dan Watters, the Fiumaras, and Tiffany Turrill) was so strong that I just did traffic on it. It was a pleasure to just help out administratively. Marvelous book.
But my favorite Absolute Sandman cover is actually JH Williams III’s for SANDMAN OVERTURE. I don’t actually know for sure, but I think JHW3’s drawn Morpheus in his helm more than anyone else. He’s the definitive helm-drawer, IMO, and I love that element of Sandman’s look.
If I had to choose my single favorite Sandman cover/design, it would be the original Doll’s House collection by Dave McKean, later used as the cover for Absolute Sandman.
And since I just sent #3 to the printer, here's a little taste of the next issue, on sale September 28 from Image. You'll have to buy it if you want to see the rest of that two-page spread 👿
