last but not least: the snake.

in traditional representations we see themis stepping on to a snake. the obvious symbolism is that, the snake being a general symbol of evil, justice triumphs over injustice, corruption, bias, and intimidation.

once again here we see one of the love interests messing with the order of things. in this case luke is holding on to the sharp sword, hurting himself in the process. if the other two are actively ‘messing’ with themis it seems like he’s the only one —

the sword

we know that the sword has traditionally been a symbol of power, but there are a couple of special things about themis’ sword.

first is that it symbolizes the power of reason instead of any real physical power.

here however, the scales are held/ controlled by artem. he’s forcing them to their natural state of stillness but we could argue he’s actually stopping themis from weighing the “evidence” presented to her.

here however, vyn is seen taking off mc’s (themis) blindfold. this could symbolise the influence of vyn (and all of the boys) in the loss of mc’s impartiality and sense of justice. if we view blindfolds as a symbol of deception however [..]

the blindfold represents the impartiality and objectivity of the law and that it doesn’t let outside factors influence its decisions. this symbolism wasn’t introduced till the 17th century however. it is also interesting to note that [..]
