cinderstream is constantly looking for opportunities to shine. shes well aware of her sister's relationship with attention and is happy to protect her by diverting the spotlight. she protected them from it as long as she could before sootcreek became leader

sootstar is one of my favorites shes so complicated. enjoying being in the shadows where no one can see her fail but pushed out into the light by a prophecy she can't fight. thankfully, learning about the spider twins helps give them a goal they can achieve to help their friend

poor plot device in a story thats not theirs, being manipulated and used for their kindness and loyalty by who they thought were their friends up until they killed them. they have a crush on sootstar

then theres gladiolusflare, losty's love interest and co-protagonist for the story. hes a former kittypet who joined the clans and also wants to feel safe and secure in a clan that actively wants her to fail
sure hope things get better for him as the series continues!

and jo's warriors counterpart, lostgaze. same story, same kind of situation but different eldritch rules. theyre a lot more at peace than jo is though and actively working on coming to terms with their 'curse' in the story
