Arthur Rackham was an illustrator that Lewis loved (and I believed wished could have illustrated Narnia). Compare the energy of his artwork to Baynes.
Don't get me wrong, Baynes's illustrations have charm but her figures are so... stiff, her lines are so labored, and scenes are so flat.
It seems like she would have been better suited with a more abstract, iconic style but the demands of the time pushed her the opposite way.
Also in 2022 we did a series of illustrations for a local E-Bike company. It was a bit different style than we usually do but I had fun with it.
We also did a series of portraits for people and these are some of them.
Thanks to Dan and Henry for the work. :-)
