I think that was the starting point of my style coalescing. The focus on detail and chiaroscuro hasn't changed much in the last 5 years
Then I returned to the realism look for the Disney Women series. I think I was really focused on getting it 'right' (whatever that definition was at the time), and the brushy finish was still too rough for my taste
I also started to experiment with more painterly, brushy strokes. Prior to this it was all trying to get as much detail and realism as possible
The first 2 years of ACCD was just me learning perspective and using a pencil
I hid a lot of my inadequacies by rendering when I didn't need to, hoping it would hide the fact that I couldn't conceptualize or draw
Pre-ACCD I don't think I had any style to speak of - I was attracted to the painterly finished stuff and ran before I walked
Everything was muddy and had no strong form language
