Going a completely new way with Sentience - was not happy with the collection - complete changes to background and surrounding elements. Need some pallete work but feel it is going in a better direction.

For me ... between 6 and 9 (below) seems to be the sweet spot between simplicity and complexity when adding longer gradients, higher than that it seems all a bit too busy/complex to go with other stuff.

Adding some additional details and working on some more variations...
