All the more reason to love these vintage illustrations by Philip Reinagle in Robert John Thornton's Temple of Flora (1799).

What I love most about plants is that even when you think that they've withered beyond redemption they still find a way to grow back to life. It may take days, weeks or months, but somehow their sprouting and blooming resume, if you just wait it out.
