I pointed a telescope towards the heart of our Galaxy for over 24 hours, and captured this image
Over the last year I’ve made it my mission to get good at deep sky mosaic astrophotography (the hardest kind). Here are some of the images I created!
Here is my most recent image, the constellation vulpecula, from m27 to sh2-91. It is a 9 panel mosaic in RGB-Ha-Oiii. There are no other images in existence showcasing these objects together in such clarity
Here she is, the Milky Way around Sagittarius and Serpens in Ha-RGB. A 25 panel gigapixel mosaic. 39hrs exposure
First practical use of my new gradient removal working in a full RGB image. Finishing up the edit tonight but I learned a lot of valuable things today. But I’m stoked because with this method there is no mosaic that is too big. The sky is the limit!
I am SO HYPED to finish this image. This has taken almost two years and it is almost done, but I want to do it right so I will probably be capturing data for another 2-3 months. I perfected the gradient modeling now you can see there are no residuals left even for 25 panels
Here is a crop to give you an idea of the depth of this image. This is the flying bat and squid nebula. I spent two whole nights imaging this one spot just to show the squid in more clarity
Spent a couple hours editing this image today, NGC6543 the Cat’s eye nebula!
