An evening offering from me on William Blake's birthday. One of, I believe, 40 illustrations he created for Robert Blair's poem, The Grave. His original drawings were thought to be lost, but 19 of them were rediscovered in 2001.

Lyra is the Lyre of Orpheus, the music of which was so sweet that rivers would change course to listen.

The constellation's brightest star, Vega, was the Pole Star in 12,000 BC.

Having spent years urging other people to join, and tagging them in to stuff as a bookseller, I've finally joined @SCBWI_BI myself, as an illustrator. My first book will be The Billow Maiden by @James_D_Dixon, published by @guppybooks, out in July.🌊

I wanted to be true to what James had written wherever possible, so that's the lighthouse I painted. A small detail, but worth getting right.
Ailsa and Camilla's lighthouse in #TheBillowMaiden is automated, but unoccupied. As events unfold, something expected happens there...
