and Modern days, Layla. she's supposed to look much tired than ACO. and hairstyle changed, the jacket is the same but much worn-out. This concept is painted over on @jeffsimpsonkh's Layla concept from ACO
and Ivar, from the direction I got, the 'boneless' part wasn't important. inspiration was old Iggy pop. he's like an unpredictable rockstar in my understanding. I tried to deliver the impressions and personality on this so ppl can easily imagine his movement and much more.
and Kjotve.. He was called Kjoteve the rich back then. you can see I used layers of rich color, accessories, etc. and yet he has to look like a Viking warrior. personally, I had a hard time on this bc I had to design the pose and look at the same time.
and outfit after outfit.. you can find them all from my artstation page https://t.co/3gTFghE7Uc
and sure, Designing outfit is a big part of the job for a Character concept artist. There were big categories for the outfit.. such as .. hunter, warrior, viking, assassins.. these are assassin theme outfit. you can wear a mask instead of helmet.
and hair, I did a lot of exploration but there are many limitations due to the mesh budget and hoodie mechanics.
Braids are cheaper than loose curly hair, but should not to big on the back (it will pop out through hoodie)
I didn't know this outfit will make it to the end as the main outfit. Anyway, After we defined the look, we had to make 3 to 4 versions of it for leveling up system. and also hoodie, and helmet for every outfit. My brain fried sometimes.
and the gender-swap idea was already there too. After I shaped the Eivor, I changed her into a man. it should be like identical twins. Btw, In terms of face modeling for the male Eivor, this face became a core ref for the apperance.
and for the outfit, Directors had a clear idea about this look, so it was easier for me to come up with the design. The sash was originally there for an hommage to Bayek, and later it turns into fabric for more practical usages(swipe the blood)
