Out with the old, in with the new… HAPPY NEW YEAR!
How are you celebrating the start of 2022 tonight?
Anthony van Dyck died 380 years ago #OnThisDay.
Using watercolour, he captured this lush rural scene, ‘An English Landscape’. 🌳
His rapid technique suggests it was created as he waited to set sail to Antwerp. If you could go anywhere, where would you travel to today?
We're all about the fancy footwear for #OnlineArtExchange today! 👠
Here's Georgina Moutray Kyle’s ‘Shoes and a Feather’ from the collection at #BelfastCastle. The yellow gives this painting ‘sole’ and character, don’t you think? 💛

"The old idea of a composer suddenly having a terrific idea and sitting up all night to write it is nonsense. Night-time is for sleeping." - Benjamin Britten.

Here's a beautiful night-time scene from our collection by Dahl...
‘A grotto in an Imaginary Landscape’ is Hendrick Cornelisz. van der Vliet’s only known landscape.
347 years ago #OnThisDay, this artist was buried. While he died in poverty, and is still not very famous, his works are admired by experts today. We can see why – they’re magical!
Happy #WorldAnimalDay! We couldn’t decide between the fluffy favourites we have in our collection, so we thought we would share a few of our best beasties!
Which of them do you have a soft spot for? Let us know in the comments …
