RIP #OliviaDeHavilland Aged 104 she was truly the last star of the Hollywood golden age. She will be remembered for her combination onscreen of calm, elegance and strength and for winning her contract battle with Warner Brothers. Here's a 1930s cigarette card from our collection.
Bit of spectacle for today's #MuseumsFromHome from our collections. These images are from a Danish dioramic print of exploding rocks in a cave, probably from the 1840s. When lit from behind a whole new picture is revealed, transforming the scene.
For both #LGBTHM20 and Valentine's Day here is a great new blog on our site from @ChrisORourke1 on queer uses of 50s fan magazines, starting with this issue from 14 Feb 1953. https://t.co/ppiGPzCeML
We have a new display to celebrate Black British Cinema for #BlackHistoryMonth2019 - this exhibition includes stills from our great collection on 1979 classic Babylon and more @artsandculturex
