I’ve needed to take breaks from working on the book I’m putting together because it’s heavy. But during those times sometimes I still want to draw, so I’ll do silly things, usually abstract stuff but when my brain needed something slightly more specific it’s been Chris Pine.

Just finished The Myth of the American Dream by @d_l_mayfield. One of the things from it that will stay w/ me is about sharks and mosquitos; a large and scary looking creature who kills a few people a year and a small ubiquitous creature carrying diseases that kill 100s of 1000s.

Started a painting last night intending it to be a landscape but then I was like… what if spoopy cowboy and now I’m wishing I had put something more interesting than a rock in the foreground. Time to brainstorm.

An angel. In a setting I’m writing, angels have a hard time blending in with humans because of their inherent otherworldliness/alien nature. But devils embraced humanity and so walk among us with ease.

Saw @allatoncemovie for the 2nd time the day I would later find out my sister had died. The fullness of that is a story for another time, but as a result this movie is now inextricably linked to how I’m processing our relationship and her death. I’ll forever be grateful for that.
