watched Animal World (2018) last night, the Chinese movie adaptation of the manga Kaiji. i wasn't expecting it to be so faithful, and i definitely wasn't expecting Michael Douglas to play Tonegawa (in a role they probably filmed in one afternoon)

finished the Sci-Fi chapter, a conceptually interesting hybrid of Alien and 2001 that's really an interactive narrative with JRPG sprites (very much like Corpse Party). surprisingly atmospheric and tense despite the squat characters and limited environments. and no battles!
