Brian never exclusively used felt pens in his illustration, with the notable exception of this one, his Manhattan inspired cityscape from Bear's Adventure. I can imagine him thinking "All those lines & windows with paint? No no no no no."

Simply adore this owl, flowers & duckling from The Little Wood Duck, 1972. Poetry in paint... Pure magic!

No particular reason for it. I just wanted to share this beauty from Puzzles, 1970. It was our last year living in London before our parents hauled us all off to the south of France. No. 1 reason: Sun - No. 2 reason: Sunshine. 1st book produced there: The Owl & the Woodpecker.
