funnytrain theory: being a western engine had a lot more relevance to not taking the trio's shit than you might initially think. many large GWR stations had no dedicated pilot, & instead asigned a mainline engine to fill the role for the day. "tender engines don't shunt" indeed!

but if you look, even amongst his crew, a couple are in BR liveries!
this is quite a small and very silly thing to enjoy, but it really pleases me how the bulk of the wagons in the latter half of the rev's books were all in the appropriate BR gray/baux liveries, not the more eyecatching bright colours that perhaps people would assume
