In the wake of #ValentinesDay — Just want to have a nerd moment + share why the color pink 💕was an indicator of wealth in the 18th century:
1. Brazilin - A red pigment that can only be produced by a brazilwood tree (Brazil). This pigment wasn’t discovered until the 18th Century
Catherine Martin worked with Brooks Brothers. She found a sketch of a pink seersucker suit in their early 19th century archives + chose it.
“That suit is such an integral part of the storytelling — it speaks to Gatsby’s complete romanticism, his ability to play the gentleman.”
