Busy week but also Sempé passed away. So often I think I have a vague idea for a drawing when it’s really just me wishing I could draw like him.

"I Want My Hat Back" is the first one (though they are not linear, you can go in any order). It is about a bear who is looking for his hat and is lied to right to his face and then gets it back in the only way i thought a bear would think to. It is written completely in dialogue.

also I didn’t know this book when I made “We Found A Hat” so I take it as evidence of a psychic connection between Remy and me

oh here’s a winter thing! “We Found A Hat” went through a lot of versions before the turtle one & one of them was about penguin...things? Who find a hat in the snow. Here is a thread of the roughs for that version, if you want.
