So many lotions sold in SE Asia come w/ skin lightening. So many models are light-skinned. So many things from colonialism to internalized racism contribute to the skin whitening industry, but that’s a topic I could make an entirely separate art series about on it’s own. (2/5)

I never ended up using these products, I didn’t want to redo the skin whitening my mom did with calamansi juice. I swear I had quite a collection of unused bottles of papaya lotion & bars of papaya soap.
It’s a shame that papayas are associated w/ skin whitening bc I really (2/4)
