Mosaic with four doves drinking from a gilt-bronze vessel, from Hadrian's Villa. Probably a copy of Sosus' work, a Greek mosaic artist of the 2nd century BC. The mosaic is made of thousands of small tesserae called opus vermiculatum, the most sophisticated mosaic technique.
