The pixies themselves in all their mischief and magic resemble the fairies from Peter Pan, where the eponymous protagonist doesn’t physically age like the scions whose souls are trapped in the First. Makes me think of a certain captain in a flying ship hunting lost children...
Stories w/ fae tend to involve a realm on the border to our own that one could easily slip into. Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” involves mortals slipping into one such realm overseen by the Fairy King Oberon and the Queen Titania. We’ll get back to Shakespeare later.
