I appreciate DeMatteis’s depiction of Captain America struggling with what American patriotism means in action (even while I feel unease with nostalgia for a more “decent” past). I think most Americans share the ideals of freedom and equality but disagree on how we achieve them.

Next up in the reading pile: Spider-Man by Paul Jenkins! I think I have all of his Spidey issues, including Webspinners, Peter Parker and Spectacular (volume 2). It will be my first time reading most of the Peter Parker issues. #SpiderMan

What are your top four comics of the 21st century?

I was not a fan of the Otherworld arc of Uncanny X-Force. I don’t blame Remender and Tocchini though. I’ve never been a fan of Captain Britain or magic-based stories in comics. #XForce

I read Uncanny X-Force #19 and #19.1. #19 serves as a welcome epilogue to the big events of the Dark Angel Saga. #19.1 takes place entirely in the Age of Apocalypse without any X-Force members, setting up the new AoA series. 3 stars. #XForce

@theclobberinkid To be honest, I didn’t understand The World even when (I think) Morrison and Bachalo introduced it in New X-Men #142-145. Side note: I love #142.
