Or this Super Sailor Moon. You can literally see the top of her butt cheek. Her whole ass would just be visible from behind. It ruins art that's otherwise gorgeous for the sake of 90s anime fanservice.
And that's really what it comes down to... their skirts. The promo art around SuperS and Stars was depicting their skirts so ridiculously short that their asses are basically just hanging out at all times. Like this Super Sailor Venus art.

The girls in Pokémon have soooo many layers. I think their designs are great but there's just so many moving parts... They're so hard to draw.
