theory territory: I believe Horus wanted to accompany Seth all along, it's just that he couldn't justify to himself leaving Heliopolis, especially after the trials. he JUMPS at the first opportunity he can get. we know he's planning this even before learning FG's background--
point no.2: in contrast to his cool demeanor, Horus can be incredibly impulsive, especially when it comes to Seth. he makes an incredibly big decision in a couple of hours, spends a couple months tracking Seth (aka GETTING LOST @IsHeThereYet ) and when he actually DOES, he has--
lastly: theres a running motif of Horus reaching his hand out to touch Seths face, just as he once did when they first met, and he finally succeeds when he saves Seth from testifying. He wants so badly to connect with Seth, despite not knowing him that well. he WANTS to
first off: Horus is incredibly physical when it comes to showing his concern/care! admittedly it surprised me a bit when he first came to save Seth, but looking back on previous chapters, he frequently uses physical touch in a protective/reassuring manner.

in doing so he failed to realize the love he already had from his family and the high regard and respect he had from his existing worshippers. in his wrath, he destroyed them all. by the time of present ENNEAD, now he's left with almost nothing.
--ignoring the actual main culprit who had wronged him. he thought that what he really needed and wanted was power, because if he couldn't have love, he'd rather be perceived as strong so no one could ever hurt him again.
