@DougMcfarlane3 We must have been on the same route, here’s a photo of one of the 5 fires we counted. Smoke from the largest resulted in long cloud of pollution drifting off to Whitby. Other people also pulled over to record it (@moorlandmonitors)

Teaching for 3 days at Coniston, starting tomorrow; got here as dusk was settling in, so quiet, lake very calm, just bird-song, an owl hoot, giddy bats and a dog barking in the valley, you can almost taste the air
