RIP Eiichi Yamamoto. His early anime were an important part of my childhood. I can't imagine growing up without Kimba and Star Blazers aka Space Battleship Yamato.

Homemakers eager to make their domestic chores more manageable & escape the drudgery of everyday life were particularly profitable targets in the 1960s. Creative advertisers promised them a future transformed by forward-thinking products & space age technology.#WyrdWednesday 3/4

"Green man in the garden
Staring from the tree,
Why do you look so long and hard
Through the pane at me?

Your eyes are dark as holly,
Of sycamore your horns,
Your bones are made of elder-branch,
Your teeth are made of thorns."
- Charles Causley, (1975)

In the last 10-15 years or so, I'd say it's a tie between these 4 films. For whatever reason, I seem to come across them playing on TV a lot & they hook me in every time. https://t.co/RxtwTSabxk

For my last weird western I'll mention Bone Tomahawk (2015), which tells the gruesome tale of some cave dwelling cannibalistic troglodytes who are tracked down by a reluctant sheriff (Kurt Russell) & his posse. The film creates its own bleak western mythology. 7/7

Ravenous (1999) is a dark comic horror tale set in the Sierra Nevada mountains at a remote military outpost during the late 1800s. It combines Wendigo folklore & the unfortunate history of the Donner Party, a group of American pioneers who commited cannibalism. 6/7

"Witches...believed to have the power...to don the bodies of certain animals, notably hares...Such, according to local superstition, are easily distinguishable by their size & colour, which approaches jet black." - Folklore of the North-West Highlands

Asteroid Ceres is named after the Roman goddess associated with agriculture, fertility, motherly relations & funeral rites among other things. Astrologers equate her placement in our birth charts with our nurturing qualities & how we process grief, etc

Finally saw an Andy Milligan film I really enjoyed & recommend. Also saw Steve Cochran's last film before his mysterious death. Cochran plays a Bond-like hero battling drug smugglers while juggling the affection of 2 beautiful nightclub singers https://t.co/mce9bi3cNR

So many to choose from but these were the first four that came to mind & I'm having difficulty choosing between them. https://t.co/kqLYuKkoDN
