Day 7: Watercolor Portrait Challenge.
Warrant Officer Ye was a student of mine, and always behind the camera. He was hardly ever in any photos and so here's to the photographer too shy for a camera. #watercolorpainting #sketchbook #30DayChallenge
Day 6: Watercolor Portrait Challenge.
Capt Stephenson is a prior enlisted Marine and brings a very enthusiastic leadership style to the table. Cheers to a fellow LogO
Day 4: Watercolor Portrait Challenge
Capt G. McCloskey is a warfighting instructor and high caliber @USMC Officer. This quick sketch doesn't do justice to his stature and professionalism. @moleskin @TheBasicSchool
Day 3: Watercolor Portrait Challenge
Sgt D. Smith is a warfighting instructor at The Basic School and is one of the highly recognized performers here. This quick sketch doesn't do him justice (I regret to say).
Day 1 of my 30 minute Watercolor Portrait Challenge.
SgtMaj Cary was the senior enlisted @USMC with BLT 2/6 under @iimefmarines during their deployment in 2018. Though I did a live sketch of him, this is a recreation of that sketch using watercolor.
Lance Corporal Higgins conducts the habitual act of cleaning his weapon. With lowers receiver removed, he uses Q-tips to sanitize the inner-crevasses of any carbon build up. This act, along with the “pinky check” in the bursting chamber, will resonate with some of you.
HN Jacobs was the assigned corpsman to the unit we did partial embedding with. He was great asset to his unit and his rank aside, I would call him a fellow Devildog - carries the demeanor and attitude of an infantry Marine! Here he monitors a live fire range.
A sneak peek at some @TheKrulakCenter project I’ve been helping with lately. I’ll preface by saying I’m NOT an illustrator, but excited to see/share the final project soon. @MCUFoundation @USMC @MCB_Quantico
An attempt at a watercolor sketch in my new @ledaartsupply sketchbook.
This piece taught me, as I reflected on the year, that we often fear things for reasons that are often less dramatic and impactful as we imagine. The hardest part in facing a fear is often getting started.
“Security” 8x10” Graphite.
This was a piece I did as a gift to my Staff Platoon Commander at @TheBasicSchool @MCB_Quantico as a student. Here I am 5yrs later about to be in his shoes, instructing the future of the @USMC. A humbling honor for sure.
