You can never have enough lift!🧐
This bizarre Northrop A-17 had been modified by NACA ( National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics - the forerunner of NASA), to investigate the properties of laminar flow aerofoils in 1942.
Note the small additional wing mounted propellers.

A mystery 'cockpit quiz' , as I've not had one for a while!
Which aircraft is this from? I'll post the (correct) answer tomorrow. 🤔

Germany's first jet airliner, the Baade 152 which was created in Communist East Germany, but it didn't enter service!🤔
Taking its name from aeronautical engineer Brunolf Baade, it represented the last member of the Junkers 'family' and was originally designed as a Soviet bomber!

The Royal Air Force was the only foreign power to receive the Boeing B-29 Superfortress.
Loaned to 'bridge a gap' before the RAF's all-jet bomber force was ready, it was named the 'Washington' when it entered service in 1949. Some were modified for ELINT ops against the Soviets.

The French Boeing 737? 🇫🇷
This is the Dassault Mercure, a twin engine narrow-body airliner from 1971.
An early example of international collaboration in the aerospace industry, it shared looks with small Boeing, but little else. Only 12 aircraft of the type flew commercially!

One of the most fun aircraft I've flown in...the delightful Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer.
I had two trips in G-APRS (named Primrose), about 18 years ago, whilst she was part of the Air Atlantique Historic flight. I believe she might now be a 'holiday home', back in Scotland!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A rather unusual angle, for this Eagle Comic cutaway drawing of a Bristol Britannia!
The BOAC version of the 'Whispering Giant', as it was known at the time, (compared to other noisy turbo-jets of that era) was drawn by the 'maestro' of this form of artwork, Mr. L Ashwell-Wood.

A future development that (thankfully?) didn't happen...the 'Flying Truck'! 😎
This 1950s Eagle cutaway predicts heavy freight being flown around our skies by giant VTOL jets, or as they put it 'Flying Lorries of the Future' to use the UK English term.

Before the advent of modern computer software, flight simulation was a very labour intensive and complicated means of training aircrew. This Convair designed simulator dates from the late 1950s and is entirely 'analogue' in construction.

The Vickers-Armstrong V-1000, was a 'still-born' jet-powered cargo aircraft, designed to meet a Royal Air Force requirement for strategic transport, to support its strategic bomber fleet, particularly the V-bombers. Based on elements of the Vickers Valiant, it was not built.😞
