There have been two big step functions in AI art

First wave = GANs (generative adversarial networks)
Second wave = Latent Diffusion Models

how do you make AI art feel tactile?

to do so involved first prompting with textures (reflections, clothing, etc) then overpainting in PS AI artifacts and color distortions giving an illustration effect.(4/6)

in "the good old days" I use massive resolution to hide details.

I know the piece will mostly be displayed on computers and phones, but the resolution is actually 8k by 12k. I then collage in higher-res details to match scale.

as a result, you can zoom and zoom and zoom.
