Episode 8 of Evangelion is a personal favourite of mine, introducing characters into the cast that completely change the tone of the story, specifically Asuka. Her loud entrance and presence is captivating and her relationship with Kaji sets up ideas explored later in the series.

It kinda sucks when people say that Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill are just mindless sakugafests because they are clearly not. Ofc, both include huge scale and excellently animated fight scenes but, both explore such interesting themes that aren't always talked about.
Perfect Blue is probably my favourite non-anime film and I was just thinking about how relevant it is today. The themes of celebrity obsession and its critique of otaku culture are so well done and Kon's incorporation of his surrealist style creates an fantastic thriller-
It's a shame that Red Swan doesn't get as much attention as an OP in comparison to the Linked Horizon OPs. It obviously isn't in direct line with the overall tone of the series like the others but, it's a really beautiful OP. Magical and enchanting visuals with a relaxing song
