The other is the movie adaptation, originally published in WDC&S 87. Lulubelle doesn't even appear in the comic, but I find the different opening scene interesting- in the movie Bongo gets treated badly. Perhaps the comic still worked with an earlier version of the script.
I was looking for one of my favorite panels in 'The Great Survival Test', and couldn't find it! What gives! I guess Jippes redrew it at some point. The first image is a scan I made years ago from a Dutch publication. (..I mean I get it, but that panel always cracks me up)
Tim’s comics are always stuffed with little sidegags. The fourth image is from a Joe Carioca comic in last week’s magazine!
This week’s Dutch Donald Duck magazine brings us fun Great Mouse Detective art by Tim Artz!
@JoostBlox Oh I never noticed that haha! There are a bunch of classic hat ones though. But it's only like 10% of all the covers he did!
Take 1960s Carl Barks, add a crazy amount of energy and expression and you get the great DANIEL BRANCA. It's one of those artists whose work just really stood out to me when I was a little kid (with no artist credits in the magazines), it was just SO GOOD!
Walt Kelly’s art still looks so crude here compared to his later stuff (kind of a comforting thought if you’re an artist). His style is already totally there though!
