The stakes: venturing into the unknown, comparing what could be with what is, weaving several threads into a visible outcome, building up to an enormous collision & going dark without reservation [each medium respectively]...
If you haven't already, I recommend indulging both.
The journey: in appearances alone, #BattleAngelAlita & #ATLA are antinomies. Looking past the differences, both rely on episodic narrative tying in a meaningful lesson for our heroes. One crystal clear feature cutting deep is 'agency', ushering them to become a strong influence.
The hero/the heroine: "You are someone very special." applies to both Aang & Alita. The last of their kind, wielding great power & testing boundaries of strength. Awoken a hundred(s of) years later, still children with a lot left to learn, contemplating entity they both embody.
After rewatching beloved serialised animation #AvatarTheLastAirbender (thanks to the kiddos at home) I'd love to draw a few parallels with my other great love, #Gunnm.
I'm grateful they both enjoy a certain reverence, one less than the other, so I hope to see that change...
